Plaka and its view to Spinalonga

Sunrise in Plaka, Spinalonga Island on the left.

Plaka is the village from the book of Victoria Hislop - The Island. It is telling the story of Spinalonga island, where was a leper colony from 1903 until 1957. In 2009 the Greek Mega Channel started to film television series in Plaka and Elounda area called "To Nisi", which is based on a novel from Victoria Hislop. It is one of the most expensive Greek television productions ever with a budget of €4 million. It came also in Finnish television last summer with the name - Saari.

Port of Plaka

Spinalonga Island

Plaka is really just a tiny village, beach on the right, end of the village.

There are nice looking little boutiques in Plaka and its having their own color theme.

Around Plaka there are nice roads to walk and have also a different view to Spinalonga. I walked each day with my dog there many kilometers.

The Island next to Spinalonga is Kolokytha I wrote about few weeks ago.

Doggy running to the sea cooling!

She found little shade again, clever girl, but not place for two of us!

Mating

Stunning sunrises in Plaka are waiting for you!

  1. Voi tota väripaljoutta.Ihania kuvia!Spinalongasaari on näkemisen arvoinen.Suosittelen käymään siellä jos olet Kreetalla.Totta ,TV sarja-Saari oli surullinen ja tippa linssissä sai katsella, mutta se on pala historiaa.
